The Olympic Rings is a stone sculpture, created to celebrate the London 2012 Summer Olympics of which the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy was host of the sailing events. The sculpture is made of Portland stone.
Portland is a unique, tied island and marks the southernmost point on the Jurassic Coast. It is joined to the mainland by Chesil Beach. The famous Portland Stone quarried here has been used for many well-known buildings including St Paul’s Cathedral, London, Uk and the United Nations Building in New York.
