Description
Robin Hood's Bay is a quaint village with narrow winding streets in North Yorkshire, England.
The has long been a settlement in this location and by the 16th century, Robin Hood’s Bay may have been more important than Whitby for seafaring.
In the 18th century, Robin Hood’s Bay was reportedly the busiest smuggling community on the Yorkshire coast. Its natural isolation, protected by marshy moorland on three sides and the village, which consists of a maze of tiny streets offered a natural aid to this well-organised business which, despite its dangers, must have paid better than fishing.
